1960s Hair

A lavishly illustrated collection of twentieth-century fashion hairstyle photography uses thematic chapters to investigate such key movements as the 1920s bob and the long-haired styles of the 1960s, in a volume that considers the influences of hair color and includes pictures of such celebrity models as Marilyn Monroe, Jimi Hendrix, and Jennifer Lopez.

The 1960s was a time of social and generational upheaval felt with particular intensity in the melting pot of New York City. A culture of corruption pervaded the New York Police Department, where payoffs, protection, and shakedowns of gambling rackets and drug dealers were common practice. The so-called blue code of silence protected the minority of crooked cops from the sanction of the majority. Into this maelstrom came a working class, Brooklyn-born, Italian cop with long hair, a beard, and a taste for opera and ballet. Frank Serpico was a man who couldn't be silenced -- or bought -- and he refused to go along with the system. He had sworn an oath to uphold the law, even if the perpetrators happened to be other cops. For this unwavering commitment to justice, Serpico nearly paid with his life.

Hair (musical) - Hair, subtitled The American Tribal Love/Rock Musical, is a musical about hippies and was a significant part of the drug, music and peace-love culture of the 1960s. It is famous for originally being performed with all the players totally naked in some scenes.

James Rado - James Radomski (born 1932, stage name James Rado, business name James Radomicki), is an actor, writer and composer, most well known for his work writing the musical Hair, for which he won a Grammy Award. He began as an actor, and reportedly did some children's theatre and then moved to New York in the early 1960s, where he appeared in some minor roles on Broadway (including Hair).
